SEC-CDOEO reaches out to 58 People’s Organizations in Mis Or

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Securities and Exchange Commission – Cagayan de Oro Extension Office conducts a two-day workshop with the People’s Organizations of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – PENRO Misamis Oriental. The workshop was held successfully on September 20-21, 2022 at Harbor Lights Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.

The workshop aims to train the 58 attending heads of the various POs in accomplishing their annual reportorial requirements which are the General Information Sheet (GIS) and Financial Statement (FS).

A certain PO Head expressed her gratitude for the opportunity as they have been struggling for years on how to comply their reports with the Commission. These POs are being granted with government funds, hence, the need to ensure their corporate records are compliant and in active status.

SEC CDO EO Supervising Administrative Officer Jesher M. Radaza discussed how to accomplish the GIS and FS, as required by the Commission. Also discussed in the workshop were how to submit reports in compliance with SEC Memorandum Circular No. 28, Series of 2020 and enrollment via the Electronic Filing and Submission Tool (eFAST), among others.

An actual workshop in the creation of GIS and FS was done on the second day where participants had the chance to personally consult with an SEC Officer to check their reports and for any recommendations.

“We are very thankful to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office – Misamis Oriental who reached out to us in order for the POs under them to be informed and be trained with the requirements of the Commission. I personally commend the proactive spirit these organizations are expressing” says Lawyer Frederick A. Enopia, Director for SEC-CDOEO.

The SEC has taken this challenge to make sure that these Non-Stock Corporations will be its top priority in its information drive efforts considering their relatively low compliance rate in the various requirements of the Commission.

PENR Officer for Misamis Oriental, Ferdinand E. Dagulo extended the same sentiment in acknowledging the SEC’s response to their request in accommodating these POs. Mr. Dagulo believes that the workshop will surely aid the long time struggle of the POs in complying their reports.
