GREENERGY CONCLUDES TWO SUCCESSFUL EVENTS FOR EARTH HOUR

IN observance of Earth Hour, Greenergy took part in two well-attended and highly-publicized events: one dedicated to Mindanao’s Clean Energy Future and another for the health of its nature.

“Greenergy has committed from the start to observe the annual Earth Hour switch-off as a symbol of our dedication to the health of the planet and the people living in it. We have always been proactive in the cause by offering sustainability solutions that combat climate change through the solar and other renewable energy products and services we provide,” said Greenergy Chief of Operations, Andrew Donggay. “Our participation and organization of these events is added testament to our commitment,” he added.

The first event held on the evening of Saturday March 26, was a feature of solar technology as an electric power source in partnership with Ayala malls in Mindanao, the Professional Organizers and the new ‘Mindanao goes Solar’ movement.

After the traditional Earth Hour countdown for switch-off at exactly 8:30pm in Ayala Centrio in Cagayan de Oro, one of the city’s top bands serenaded an audience floor lit by solar lamps after it was charged by the sun during the day. In between song numbers, a host was sharing trivia information about solar and its promising benefits for Mindanao. There was also a showcase of electricity-powered mobility options like scooters and carts which can be powered directly by the sun. A similar event was organized at the Ayala Abreeza mall in Davao.

The second event coined ‘Trees for the Future’ was a tree-growing event at Mount Moriah in Manticao, Misamis Oriental. The company-wide activity attended by Greenergy employees alongside friends and family on Saturday March 26 saw 600 of trees planted and cared for throughout its lifetime as an investment for the future, just as much as solar is.

The activity complements Greenergy Solar’s call to ‘Hire the sun!’ through services like solar rooftop installation, solar-powered irrigation and water systems, and solar street lighting among others. As of 2021, Greenergy has installed a total generating capacity of 2800 kilowatts, the equivalent of 4.5M growing trees.

“While trees suck out carbon from the atmosphere and helps Filipinos avoid extreme weather events caused by climate change, solar and other clean energy technologies offered by Greenergy prevents the need to use more fossil fuels which produce carbon gases warming the planet,” said Greenergy CEO, Cerael Donggay. “Thus, growing trees and using solar is both an investment for the Earth and its future generations, and we’re glad to do our part for Mindanao,” he added.

“Greenergy understands that climate change is the biggest problem humanity needs to solve, and offering solar and other clean energy solutions to Mindanaons will help the Southern Philippines contribute to solving the climate problem,” Donggay adds.
