    by Jan Albert K. Araña

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–The Department of Trade and Industry-Misamis Oriental (DTI-MisOr), together with Cagayan de Oro City 2nd District Rep. Rufus B. Rodriguez distributed livelihood kits to the flood victims in Barangay Bugo, here, January 25.

As one of the barangays affected by flooding caused by heavy rains in October 2022, 68 resident beneficiaries received livelihood kits through DTI-MisOr’s Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) program.

“Kani nga programa sa DTI gihatag kini sa mga biktima sa kalamidad sama kaninyo na nakahigaom ug baha katong October 16,” DTI-MisOr Provincial Director Almer Masillones said.

(This DTI program is available to disaster victims like you who were flooded last October 16)

Masillones said the distribution of the kits was made possible through Rodriguez after he was able to push for additional funding.

She also said that profiling was done by the official’s office in November 2022 to find out who would get the help she was talking about.

Each of the 68 people who got the kits got a total of P15,000 worth of tools to help them make a living. The kits include 58 kits for selling groceries, 6 kits for selling rice, and 4 kits for making food.

Rodriguez reminded the beneficiaries to take care of the livelihood that they have received and to make sure that their business will thrive in the long run.

“Magtan-aw ug mag-monitor sila [DTI] kung nilambo inyong livelihood kani aron maghatag pa sila dugang supporta; mao na atoang gitawag na sustainable support. Ayuha ninyo ang pagnegosyo,” Rodriguez said.

They [the DTI] will check and monitor your livelihood to see if it has improved so that they can provide additional assistance; this is referred to as sustainable support. Take care of your business)

DTI-MisOr and Rodriguez hope to one day see the livelihood assistance that was given to the beneficiaries grow and aid them to get back on their feet after the calamity they have experienced. (JAKA/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
