    DOLE-10 assisted livelihood projects gain national recognition

    CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 received recognition from the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC) in the recently concluded 2022 Kabuhayan Awards, an annual national incentive and awards system for DOLE-assisted livelihood projects, May 27, 2022 at the New Coast Hotel, Malate, Manila.

    Sixteen regions competed in various categories that underscored the beneficiaries’ efforts in successfully managing regional projects considered essential in their own sectors, highlighting best practices or success stories on livelihood project implementation.

    DOLE-10 Regional Director Albert E. Gutib said the awarding ceremony led by Labor Chief Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III was attended by regional directors, local chief executives, Public Employment Service (PESO) managers, regional winners, Technical Support Services Division (TSSD), provincial and field office heads and livelihood focal persons.

    After a tedious deliberation of the BWSC national screening and selection committee, DOLE NorMin remained triumphant with the following projects adjudged as winners for major awards: Top 5 Best DOLE-Assisted Livelihood Project–Individual Category: Ruth Modequillo, Buko Pie starter kit from Linamon, Lanao del Norte; 3rd place Best DOLE-Assisted Livelihood Project–Group Category: Paglingkawas Women Federation, Merkado sa PAWFED in Kauswagan Lanao del Norte.

    Modequillo and PAWFED were given formation and enhancement assistance by DOLE-10 in 2019 and have continued to realize their goals despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Consistently, 10 accredited co-partners (ACPs) or the program partners were conferred as regional winners by DOLE Undersecretary Randy Escolango, together with Assistant Secretary Engr. Mariano Alquiza in their regional visit, May 20, 2022, here, which unanimously gained honors and recognition of the regional performances.

    Said awards recognize its efforts in effectively implementing the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) realize its program goals and sustaining the positive gains out of the DOLE-funded livelihood projects in view of improving the living conditions of the informal sector in the region.

    Moreover, Modequillo and PAWFED emerged as champions over other regional entries for Best Livelihood Video Documentation at the national level for a video documentation entitled “Sweet Slice of Success (The Story of Neneng’s Buko Pie)”; and “Paglingkawas sa atong Tupad (Freedom in our Midst) The Story of PAWFED” highlighting program impact based on substance, coherence, clarity, creativity and informative way of narrating success stories through video documentation.

    For the implementers category, Cagayan de Oro City Field Office Senior Labor and Employment Officer (LEO) Akisa Guro-Boriongan is named the Best Performing Provincial Livelihood Focal Person while Misamis Oriental Provincial Field Office LEO III Monadette N. Balanay was hailed as Best Performing Provincial Field Office TUPAD Focal Person. 

    Recognitions were also given to the Local Government of Oroquieta City as Best LGU Implementing DILP, and Macajalar Wharf Porters Association MPC-FFWC as the Best Regional ACP implementing DILP in the region. (DOLE-10/PIA-10)
