Cagayan de Oro-The Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ORO CHAMBER) here is set to hold this year’s Mindanao Food Congress and Oro Expo 2022 on October 26 to 30 at the Atrium of Lim Ket Kai Mall with the theme: Transforming Agriculture: Ways of sustainable food security in Mindanao.
In his presentation,ORO CHAMBER President Raymundo G. Talamio Jr. reported that in 2020,our country’s agriculture sector made up 10.2 percent of our Gross Domestic product (GDP) and employed 9.75 Million workers based on the Philippine Statistics Authority (,PSA) data and also showed that some 7.9 Million hectares of the country’s land is devoted to Agriculture,the reason why ORO CHAMBER decided to hold this year’s congress which is the trademark of the organization for over a decade now.
Talimio said that this congress seeks to take a deep dive on the gaps in the Mindanao’s agriculture supply chain network,support diverse distribution efforts with efficient logistics and finding alternative options to improve productivity and competitiveness, formulate and recommend programs,strategies and policies to help strengthened and transform agriculture to achieve a sustainable food security in Mindanao and intensify value adding and explore innovation alternatives to improve products,processes,services and market.
The Congress will highlight the passage of resolution of the inputs and policy recommendations to be presented to the upcoming Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.There is also workshops, business matching and product exhibits.
2014 is the last holding of the Congress and replicate this year as COVID-19 seems will subside in the host city who is still in Alert level 1 for almost 6 months now until the end of this month.
ORO CHAMBER invited India Business representatives to the Congress to give inputs in the Agriculture Technology Innovations wherein India Embassy is planning to put up a Fertilizer Manufacturing plant which is the first in the country.
In a presentation to Media on Tuesday,three Indian Business personalities are present,these are Nishi Kant Singh; First Secretary, Economic and Commerce Embassy of India,Seraj Ahmad; Business Growth Lead-Philippines and North East Asia Advanta seeds and Narendra Sagrolikar; President and Country Head,Indoli Philippines Incorporated.In the afternoon, ORO CHAMBER together with the three Indian nationals spearheading the India Business roadshow via zoom with 70 participants lead by Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno who presented the business landscape of the city with Aileen San Juan of city’s Investment promotion office who presented the Audio-Video presentation.Also present in the presentation are Ruben A. Vegafria; PCCI Regional Governor and Arthur B.Quiblat ; Vice President Agriculture and Agribusiness Sector of ORO CHAMBER
