CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)– The Food Processors’ Association of Northern Mindanao (FOPANORMIN) in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-10 and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-10 held its opening salvo for its annual Tinagboan 2022 Food Show and Trade Exhibit celebration by holding a press conference at the Ginama Store in Gaston Park, here, August 1.
With the theme, “Bayanihan Reigniting the Economy through Food, Culture, and Community Building,” the FOPANORMIN aims to revive the province’s colorful locally-made “souvenir” food items from the negative effects wrought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Outgoing FOPANORMIN President and Best Friend Goodies Owner Nenita Mendoza Tan is confident that despite its two-year hiatus, the Tinagboan 2022 Food Show and Trade Exhibit will reignite the spark of Cagayan de Oro’s food scene alongside its small and medium food processors.
“We want to showcase our local brands, as processors it is our pride and joy to show and serve our incoming guests and even local residents,” Tan said.
Designed to encourage other small-scale food enterprises to take an active role in the region’s “food tourism” industry, the Tinagboan Expo will feature cooking demonstrations and promotional activities that surely delight local and international visitors alike.
The FOPANORMIN will have its Tinagboan 2022 eight-day event Food Show and Trade Exhibit, August 9 to 16 at the Rotunda area of Limketkai mall. (VPSB/PIA-10)
