DAVAO CITY — The National Senior Citizen Advocate sociation of the Philippines,Inc. (NSCAAPI) in Region 11 had expressed full support to ACE Party List advocacies.
ACE Party List Founding Chairman and Ist Nominee Erwin Culanag had acknowledged with gratitude the unwavering support of Senior Citizens.
In his message before the new set of officers of NSCAAPI in Davao, Officer Culanag vowed to drumbeat the concerns aired by senior citizens in the halls of Congress.
Culanag stressed the need to undertake efforts to pursue the policies of motivating and encouraging older persons to contribute to nation building and encourage their families
and communities to affirm the valued Filipino tradition of caring for the older persons.
ACE Party List will advocate for the recognition of the rights of older persons to take their proper places in society as well as recognizing the important role of the private sector in the improvement of the welfare of senior citizens by seeking partnership and collaboration.
Culanag will also help put in place building blocks for a comprehensive health care and rehabilitation program that will enable older people to attain a more meaningful and productive lives.
“There is a need for a more aggressive advocacy programs that should be undertaken by making the Elderly Filipino Week the highpoint of the year round campaign,
Culanag stressed.
Culanag further explained that education and information campaign on new policies and programs must also reach a wider population of older persons thru collaboration with various stakeholders.
On the other hand, the academe should be encouraged to undertake studies on older persons and share their
findings as basis for policy and program development,
Culanag said.
There is also the need to strengthen the 1,497 municipal Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) and the establishment and development of local networks of service providers for older persons
ensuring quality for the country’s special human resource— the older persons,
he added.
