FROM a small hardware store in 2000, E&V General Merchandise has emerged as a gigantic concept DIY hardware and home improvement mall strategically located in the heart of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon with its grand opening April 17.
E&V General Merchandise’s name came from the visionary couple entrepreneur who founded a mom and pop hardware startup in Cagayan de Oro City in 1995 – Victor and Emilia Añana.
The couple initially engaged in the sales of corrugated sheets until a friend prodded them to establish a hardware store. This flagship hardware store became the first branch of E&V General Merchandise along CM Recto Avenue in Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City under the overpass which still stands today.
Five years later in 2000, the Añanas would replicate their success in Cagayan de Oro City and established a second branch of E&V General Merchandise in Manolo Fortich. It started as a grocery and construction supply. But just like their Lapasan branch, the store then was a small one reminiscent of what a traditional hardware store would look like.
It was only this year after several months of renovation that E&V General Merchandise has transformed itself into a bigger, better and more convenient location that can compete with national hardware chains.
The new and improved E&V General Merchandise is now located along Sayre Highway, Calanawan, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon beside Colex Gas Station to the right and the municipal hall to the left.
No less than Vice Gov. Clive Quiño graced the momentous occasion along with family friends and those close to the heart of the Añanas, including ten Catholic priests!
Open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, E&V General Merchandise sells construction materials, steel products, cement, plywood, plumbing, electrical services and home improvement fixtures such as tiles and bathroom accessories.
It’s indeed a far cry from their humble shop way back in 1995 but with the utmost quality of their E&V General Merchandise has been patronized all this time by contractors, construction companies, individual households and institutions alike.
