CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–The governor of Misamis Oriental underscored how crucial water security is not only to the daily lives of the people but also to the economy.
“Ang tubig limitado nga kinaiyahan nga bahandi og maoy isa sa mga elemento’ng gapadagan sa mga industriya ug ambag alang sa ekonomikanong kalambuan,” said Governor Peter Unabia during the opening of the Northern Mindanao Integrated Water Security Summit.
(Water is a limited natural resource and is one of the elements that drive industries and contribute to economic development)
Unabia said water is the lifeblood of society, as it is needed for a thriving economy that can run farms, businesses, and factories. Clean water is also needed for healthy children and adults to realize their potential as productive members of society.
Reiterating how precious water is to mankind and how fragile the people are without it, the governor urged all stakeholders to work together and pull their efforts together to put water security at the heart of sustainable development.
“Just as it is our right to access clean water, it is also our responsibility to ensure that the well never runs dry,” he said, citing that everyone has to protect, preserve, and sustainably manage the natural resources for generations to come. (APB/PIA-10)
