CAMIGUIN (PIA)–“Ang munisipyo magtukod og pasalaubong center og syempre ang inyong products atong ibutang diha ang ato lang ana mutabang gyud mi nga patsadahon nato nga mabaligya gyud na.”
(The municipality will build a souvenir center, and of course we will put your products there and we will help you sell them)
In showing appreciation and love for women, Mambajao Mayor Yñigo Jesus Romualdo shares plans on helping women’s organizations in the town through skills and entrepreneurship training, aside from establishing the souvenir center during the National Women’s Month kick-off, March 1 at the municipal hall.
Romualdo added that there are still a lot of programs and services that the local government will implement to help women reach their full potential.
If they are unable to get these services, the mayor urged them to send a letter to the LGU so the latter could bring the services right to their doorstep.
“Dili lang gyud na siya dapat once a month, once every year i-celebrate ang mga babae kay muingon mo’g ang mga mabuhat sa mga lalaki, mabuhat pud sa mga babae pero ang mga lalaki dili man makakugos og bata for nine months. So dapat every month, everyday gyud mo palanggaon,” Romualdo said.
(It’s not just once a month, once a year that women should be celebrated because, as you say, what men can do, women can also do, but men can’t hold a baby for nine months. So you should love every month, everyday)
In celebrating women’s month, Roselyn Sanchez of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) said they had a motorcade, which was participated in by the 15 barangays of the town with their Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) organizations, and a ribbon-cutting for the opening of the program with the town’s officials.
They also taught the participants hands-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and gave them free massages, dental, medical, check-ups, and grooming services.
“Giawhag nako atong mga kababayenhan nga mu-join ani para ma-express nila ang ilahang mga katungod kung aduna man sila’y naagian nga mga problema, dili sila angay mabalaka tungod kay ang women karon gi-empower na nato,” Sanchez said.
(I encourage our women to join this so they can express their rights. If they have any problems, they should not worry because women are now empowered by us)
Zita Abellare, a member of the Sangguniang Bayan, said that the local government continues to promote and advocate for women’s empowerment by giving them education and training to help them improve their lives. (RTP/PIA-10/Camiguin)
