VISUAL art has existed long before the era of photography and videography. Whereas photography started dominating the world in the 19th century and videography at a later part in the 1980s, visual art (particularly painting) had its early modern roots during the Renaissance.
In the concept of wedding documentation nowadays here in the Philippines, we see a burst of photographers and videographers catching up the attention of wedding couples as clients. One visual artist intends to inject a new medium to all that – go back to the time of the Renaissance and make painting as a form to capture the memorable moments of one’s wedding.
This woman is Alyanna Marie Belonio, a 27-year-old Architecture student who hails from Cagayan de Oro City. As a visual artist, Yanna has been making portraitures in acrylic and oil painting since 2015. Then in 2023, Yanna was introduced to the busy world of wedding providers. A bulb lit up in her mind and Yanna thought of painting as an alternative way to document weddings.
Strokes and Memories was launched during the Elegance and Class Bridal Fair last January 26 at SM CDO Downtown Premier. Wedding couples can choose of the following sizes for their portraitures: 20” x 24”, 24” x 30” and 30” x 30”.
