The Cagayan de Oro City Water District (COWD) recently commemorated a delayed observance of the 47th Nutrition
Month with the theme, “Malnutrisyon Patuloy na Labanan, First 1000 Days Tutukan!”
The theme focuses on the first 1,000 days of life as the strategic intervention to prevent stunting and obesity.
The 2021 Nutrition Month theme calls for continued efforts to address malnutrition in the country which is expected to
worsen as a result of the pandemic and limited resources for nutrition.
The pandemic delayed the planned Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity for Nutrition Month since the city was
placed under ECQ for quite a while. However, since the restrictions have been loosened, COWD distributed fifty (50)
eco-bags filled with vegetables, milk and biscuits along with a bottle of alcohol for hand-sanitizing to residents of the
Talongan Relocation Site at Brgy. Canitoan on October 28 th .
Nutrition Month is an annual campaign held every July to create greater awareness among Filipinos on the importance of
nutrition as provided under Presidential Decree 491, or the Nutrition Act of the Philippines. ( COWD Public
